How to make an AI Fruit Love Island video: workflow, prompts and cost per episode
AI Fruit Love Island is a TikTok and YouTube microdrama where talking fruit play a Love Island parody, made by the anonymous account @ai.cinema021 (Wikipedia). To make your own, build a character sheet, write a 5-shot scene and generate each shot as a short clip. At Runway list prices a 15-second scene costs $1.95 to $8.00 per pass, before retries.

What is AI Fruit Love Island?
AI Fruit Love Island is a vertical AI microdrama on TikTok and YouTube in which anthropomorphic fruit compete in a parody of the reality show Love Island.
Wikipedia lists it as 2 seasons and 28 episodes, released from 13 March to 28 March 2026, each running 2 to 4 minutes. Audience votes, often collected in a Google Form, decided plot points. C21 Media, reporting on 31 March 2026, counted 22 episodes, more than 300 million total views and over 10 million views per episode. The two sources differ on the episode count (28 versus 22).
Who made AI Fruit Love Island, and what tools did they use?
The anonymous TikTok account @ai.cinema021 posted the series, and no source we found names the AI tools it used.
Wikipedia says only that the series combines generative AI for visuals, voice-overs and scripts. In a TikTok post quoted by BBC News and reported by C21 Media, the creator said they write the scripts and plan the scenes, that "the AI generation messes up constantly" and that each video takes hours. Budget for retries: the original was not one-click.
Many generator sites use the name. The one at aifruitloveisland.net calls itself a fan-made generator, does not name its model or publish token prices or generation limits (checked 2026-10-26).
How do you make a fruit AI video, step by step?
Making a fruit AI video takes five steps: write one scene, design the characters, generate stills, animate each shot, then edit and label.
- Write one scene, not an episode. Pick a single location and one conflict. The scene below is 15 seconds and five 3-second shots.
- Build a character sheet. For each fruit, fix a species, a face, one accessory, a voice description and a one-line personality. Keep the same words in every prompt.
- Generate one reference still per character. Use an image model, then reuse that still as the first frame or reference image for every shot. Runway lists image models from 1 to 5 credits ($0.01 to $0.05) per 720p image, such as gen4_image at 5 credits.
- Animate each shot separately. Generating shots separately lets you retry one shot without redoing the scene. Veo 3.1 and Seedance 2.5 do not offer 3-second clips, so generate 4 seconds and trim.
- Edit, add the label, publish. Cut the shots together in any editor, then apply the platform's AI label.
What does a character sheet look like?
A character sheet is a short fixed text block per character that you paste unchanged into every prompt, so the model sees the same description each time.
Here are two original characters. They are not the show's characters.
- Pip the pear: "Pip, a glossy green cartoon pear with a smooth round face, two large dark eyes, a small red bow tie. Confident, speaks fast, dry humor. Warm male voice."
- Clementine the orange: "Clementine, a bright orange cartoon clementine with a dimpled peel, long lashes, a tiny gold hoop earring. Sarcastic, speaks slowly. Low female voice."
What is a good prompt kit for a 15-second fruit scene?
A 15-second scene works as five 3-second shots with one setting line repeated in each prompt.
Setting line: "Night villa terrace, string lights, fire pit, glossy 3D cartoon style, shallow depth of field, vertical 9:16."
| Shot | Seconds | Prompt (after the setting line and character blocks) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0-3 | Wide shot, Pip and Clementine sit by the fire pit, Pip leans in. |
| 2 | 3-6 | Close-up on Pip. He says: "I picked you before the music started." |
| 3 | 6-9 | Close-up on Clementine, one eyebrow up. She says: "You picked the seat next to the snacks." |
| 4 | 9-12 | Two-shot, Pip fumbles his bow tie, Clementine laughs. |
| 5 | 12-15 | Slow push-in on both, fire flicker, Pip whispers: "Worth it." |
Set the vertical ratio in the model's settings. For more wording to borrow, see these AI video prompt examples. Kling 3.0 Standard makes 3 to 15 second clips, so it fits the 3-second shots directly. Veo 3.1 takes 4, 6 or 8 seconds and Seedance 2.5 takes 4 to 30 seconds: generate each shot at 4 seconds and trim to 3 in your editor.
How much does an AI Fruit Love Island video cost?
At Runway API list prices, one 15-second scene costs $1.95 on Kling 3.0 Standard with audio, $6.00 on Seedance 2.5 at 720p and $8.00 on Veo 3.1 with audio, for one pass.
One Runway credit costs $0.01 (more in our Runway pricing guide). The rates are from Runway's pricing and model pages, checked 2026-10-26. Veo 3.1 is 40 credits per second with audio. Kling 3.0 Standard is 13 credits per second with audio. Seedance 2.5 is 30 credits per second at 720p, with a minimum of 80 credits ($0.80) per generation. Seedance and Veo clips start at 4 seconds, so each shot is generated at 4 seconds and trimmed to 3: $1.20 per Seedance shot and $1.60 per Veo shot. Kling generates the 3 seconds directly at $0.39.
| Model (Runway API) | Rate per second | One pass, 5 shots | 3 attempts per shot | 5 attempts per shot |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kling 3.0 Standard, audio | $0.13 | $1.95 | $5.85 | $9.75 |
| Seedance 2.5, 720p (5 × 4 s) | $0.30 | $6.00 | $18.00 | $30.00 |
| Veo 3.1, audio (5 × 4 s) | $0.40 | $8.00 | $24.00 | $40.00 |
The arithmetic is rate × generated seconds × attempts. For Veo: $0.40 × 20 generated seconds = $8.00, and × 3 = $24.00. The creator of the original says generation fails often, so log your own success rate after the first scene and rescale the columns. Seedance 2.5 reference images are free; reference video is billed per second on top.
The stills add little. Six character stills at 5 credits each cost $0.30.
How much does a full 2 to 4 minute episode cost?
A 2-minute episode built from 40 separate 3-second shots costs $15.60 on Kling 3.0 Standard, $48.00 on Seedance 2.5 and $64.00 on Veo 3.1 for one pass, and double that at 4 minutes.
| Model | 2 min (120 s) | 4 min (240 s) |
|---|---|---|
| Kling 3.0 Standard, audio | $15.60 | $31.20 |
| Seedance 2.5, 720p (4 s per shot) | $48.00 | $96.00 |
| Veo 3.1, audio (4 s per shot) | $64.00 | $128.00 |
These are base estimates before stills and reference-video charges, with every generated second used. Reuse stills and cutaways to cut the number of newly generated seconds. To test your own numbers, use the AI video cost calculator. At 3 attempts per shot, multiply by three.
Which model should you pick?
Pick Kling 3.0 Standard to draft cheaply, and a more expensive model only for shots you have already approved.
Kling 3.0 Standard on Runway makes 720p clips of 3 to 15 seconds with optional audio, so a 3-second shot fits its range. Veo 3.1 costs about three times as much per second (see Veo 3 pricing). Google's deprecations page lists the Veo 3.1 preview models with a shutdown date of 22 October 2026, so if you call Google directly, use a generally available endpoint.
Can you make AI Fruit Love Island videos legally?
You can make original fruit characters, but copying the show's characters, or using the Love Island name and format commercially, raises rights issues.
ITV Studios, which distributes Love Island, told C21 Media it welcomes fan passion and will take steps against unauthorized commercial use of its brand, trademark and assets. Use your own title and characters. Do not use real people's faces or voices for your fruit; the format needs none.
On labeling, YouTube asks creators to disclose realistic altered or synthetic content, and says unrealistic content such as a fantastical scene need not be disclosed, though a label for animated AI content can appear in the description. TikTok's community guidelines, released 25 August 2026 and effective 24 September 2026, require labels on AI-generated content that shows realistic-looking scenes or people. Stylized talking fruit is not realistic, so most fruit scenes need no label; apply the platform label when a shot looks photoreal.
